Timothy Starchuk got into film photography in his teens and has transitioned his work into the digital realm in more recent years. Drawing inspiration from his travels, several themes can be gleaned from his body of work. The first theme is one exploring a sense of loss; a loss of time or of a way things once were. Art evoking a darker mood with hints of a brighter future. Another theme taken from his personal exploration with minimalism can be seen with images focused on a single theme that entices one to question it more deeply or in a lighthearted way. The use of reflection and luminosity as an esthetic principle is often used to capture the feel and movement of a particular location in much of the work. Timothy tries to find simple beauty that can be shared through the creation of his art and a particular way of viewing the world.
